My Utopia

My Utopia is a world where there are no wars or violence at all, there’s no World War and World War II. There’s no rich, there’s no poor, we’re all the same. A very peaceful world, there’s no crime, no torture, no greed, no envy, no opportunism and no jealousy in every individual. People don’t lie. An effective government in all countries. No gambling and no corruption. There are no diseases especially Cancers, Diabetes, Tuberculosis, and other deadly diseases. Technologies that will not harm our mother Earth(I love cool gadgets… ). People should accept each other, and not hate each other for stupid reasons. Stupid questions and stupid people do not exist. Everyone is humorous and not so darn serious. Everyone has many freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to be oneself without ridicule. Everyone would share, love, work the land, and practice arts of every kind. We would work only about four hours a day and four days a week. Lastly, all people believe in God. I'm sure there are many more, but this will do for now.

P.S. feel free to add your own Utopia by commenting.

Predictions for the Philippine Economy in 2012

It’s been a roller coaster ride for the Philippines in 2011, but as we move into the new year, many Filipinos will still be wondering what 2012 has in store for them, specially their wallets. What about the SWS Survey that finds 95% of Filipinos “hopeful”? Will it be easier to find a job? Will they be able to buy a car or get a house? Here are my Top 6 predictions for the Philippines in 2012:
1. More Jobs…. Overseas
More jobs are being created overseas as the markets correct themselves – except in the Philippines.
2. Spending will increase… public spending
Filipino consumers will not have enough money to spend because their personal incomes will be heavily taxed so that GOVERNMENT SPENDING can be increased.
3. More Loans and Credit… By Government
4. No long-term solution to Poverty in the Philippines
Noynoy Aquino will offer his anti-corruption program and anti-trust legislation as a palliative. He will also use irrelevant statistics to paint a rosy picture of the low-trajectory Philippine economy.
5. Low Foreign Direct Investments to Continue
6. Low GDP Per Capita to Continue in the $3500-$3800 band.

To the year ahead 2012, best of luck Philippines.

Impeachment

Impeachment is a formal process in which an official is accused of unlawful activity, the outcome of which, depending on the country, may include the removal of that official from office as well as other punishment.
In Philippines, Impeachment is an expressed power of the Congress of the Philippines to formally charge a serving government official with an impeachable offense. After being impeached by the House of Representatives, the official is then tried in the Senate. If convicted, the official is either removed from office or censured.
As of now, there were only three impeached officials in the Philippines: Joseph Estrada, 13th president of the Philippines, but the trial aborted, Merceditas Gutierrez, Ombudsman, resigned prior to trial, and Renato Corona, 23rd Chief Justice, to be decided.
On May 12, 2010, two days after the 2010 elections and a month before Arroyo's term expired, Renato Corona was appointed the 23rd Chief Justice of the Philippines, succeeding Reynato Puno who had reached the mandatory age of retirement.
December   12, 2011, 188 members of the House of Representatives signed an impeachment complaint against Corona. As only 95 signatures were necessary for the impeachment of Corona by the House of Representatives under the Constitution, the impeachment complaint was to be transmitted to the Senate for trial.
Other officials can be removed from offices but not by impeachment: those under the executive department may be dismissed by the president; members of Congress can be expelled by two-thirds vote of the chamber the member is a part of; local elected officials can be removed from office through recall.
In the 1935 and 1973 constitutions, the President, the Vice President, the Justices of the Supreme Court, and the Auditor General were the impeachable officials.
